Written orders from General George Washington stated that a hospital would be set up in Four Lanes End (now Langhorne, Pa.), on January 4, 1777. The burial site contains men from the early battles of the American Revolution. Archeological excavation performed in 1992 revealed that 166 American soldiers were interred on this site. The hospitals were closed on May 15, 1777.
Until an Archaeological Survey was made of this site, only local custom kept the legend of the Revolutionary War Burial Site existent in this unpublished Journal over the years. When owners of the property applied for subdivision of this tract a request was made to verify the information in both Journal and Letter, as they were known to indicate the burial of Revolutionary War soldiers.
Hear military historian, Michael Jesberger, tell the story of this amazing discovery. Today the site is an educational park dedicated to the men of the American Revolution who rest together in Langhorne.
